KSEA would like to congratulate Professor Young Kee Kim’s election as the American Physical Society (APS Physics) President in 2024. Starting January 1, 2022, Professor Kim will serve successive yearlong terms as vice president, president-elect, president and past president.
Dr. Kim has served KSEA as a leader in various capacities and is currently KSEA’s 50th President-Elect.
Professor Young-Kee Kim is an eminent experimental physicist at the University of Chicago. She devotes much of her research understanding the origin of mass for fundamental particles. At her institution and in KSEA, she is very committed to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Dr. Kim is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Sloan Foundation. She received the Ho-Am Prize, the Women in Science Leadership Award from the Chicago Council of Science and Technology, the University of Rochester’s Distinguished Scholar Medal, and Korea University’s Alumni Award.
